Pre-Law Advising

The Comprehensive Application for Law (CAP Law) is a new Pre-Professional Advising initiative intended to support your law school application process. The CAP Law asks many of the same questions law school applications ask, and provides an opportunity for applicants to receive comprehensive assistance with their personal statements, resumes, law school lists, and more from an experienced pre-law advisor. Once your application is submitted, you will be eligible for a 25-minute appointment with an advisor who will review your materials and discuss individualized feedback with you.

CAP Law Timeline

  • August 15: Appointments become available. Early application is encouraged, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • October 15: Deadline for guaranteed a CAP Law appointment. Any CAP Law submitted by October 15, 2026, will be guaranteed a CAP Law appointment. If you miss the October 15 deadline, we will try to accommodate you, but appointments are limited and so we may not have a time slot available.
  • December 1: Final day to submit the CAP Law.

Note that participation in CAP Law is open to both current students and alumni of The College and is voluntary -- it is a service our office is pleased to offer during the fall law school application period. If you choose not to complete the CAP Law, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to review your personal statements and other application materials, though applicants can always receive support via scheduled appointments, drop-in hours, and over email.
